Unsupported Deadlines

Giving a deadline before the work is understood creates a commitment that cannot be responsibly defended. Deadlines based on little information transfer project risk onto the developer who gave the date. When an unsupported deadline fails, the developer is held accountable for a promise not grounded in evidence. Unsupported deadline dates often reflect pressure rather than real knowledge about the work.
