Software Engineering Metrics

Lines of code are a poor measure of software engineering contribution because quantity does not necessarily indicate usefulness or business impact. Bug-closure counts are the wrong kind of measurement because they emphasize activity rather than results. Large code volume can mislead because many lines may be comments or may not contribute to a sensible outcome.
