Lazy skill loading preserves context window space. Per-project skill isolation lets different project directories have different agent configurations. The article rejects the idea that the most skilled person usually wins selection outcomes. After someone reaches a good-enough competence threshold, further skill differences become harder to perceive in ordinary work. Pye skills are directories containing a SKILL.md file with metadata and optional instructions. People usually cannot reliably tell the difference between moderately high and very high performance on an ordinary day. Pye loads skills lazily rather than eagerly.
