Milestones confirm that progress is real and that the team is not circling back to where it started. Celebrating major milestones such as a public release reinforces team morale and marks a genuine transition point in the project lifecycle. Milestones should be meaningful deliverables representing a concrete, testable state of the product rather than arbitrary calendar dates. Without milestones or defined waypoints there is no reliable way to determine whether the project is advancing, stagnating, or regressing.
