Preparation-Time Bias

Memorizing solutions does not prove understanding or show that a candidate can improve or maintain a real product. The article says these tests may measure available preparation time more than practical engineering impact. Algorithm-heavy interviews favor candidates who can spend months practicing problem patterns and memorized solutions.
