The goal of onboarding documentation is for new developers to ask questions only about genuine exceptions, not about obvious fundamentals. New team members without guidance waste enormous time and become frustrated, imposing costs on both themselves and existing team members. Onboarding documentation is an absolute requirement at enterprise scale. Onboarding documentation should cover at minimum how to get the code, how to run it, and how to navigate it.
