CoC requires ongoing monitoring, feedback, metrics, and refinement rather than one-time setup. Tooling enforces conventions automatically and reduces reliance on individual discipline. The foundation of CoC implementation is agreeing on standards before writing code. New projects are the ideal time to establish CoC because retrofitting conventions onto existing codebases is much harder. A centralized document or wiki helps prevent convention drift and gives new team members an authoritative reference.
