Fixer Role

The fixer role is rewarded for reacting but is often excluded from planning visibility. Fixer contributions to roadmap, strategy, and prioritization may go unnoticed or never be requested. Engineers can become known as fixers by solving urgent and difficult problems, but that reputation does not necessarily support leadership growth.
