Google Docs, Word documents, and online wikis are all viable hosting options; the right choice is whichever the team will actually use and maintain. If external parties such as contractors, auditors, or partners need access, that requirement must factor into the platform decision from the start. Maintaining separate internal and external versions of documentation doubles the maintenance overhead. Externally accessible documentation must be reviewed to ensure it does not expose internal system architecture or process details exploitable by a malicious actor.
